Get Instantly Happy Just by Remembering Your Favorite Things

Get Instantly Happy Just by Remembering Your Favorite Things

I was on my way home yesterday when the song, “My Favorite Things” came on the radio. This song, which became popular in the movie, “The Sound of Music” used to bug me. I couldn’t understand how this was a holiday song. I no longer feel this way and absolutely love the song for it’s simple, yet powerful message.

“My Favorite Things”

Raindrops on roses  and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles plus warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings. These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels. Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles. Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings. These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings. When I’m feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t  feel so bad.

(This is just a part of the song, but it gets the point across.) After going through and completing The Ultimate Game of Life, it makes sense to me. My coach and mentor, Jim Bunch says, “change your thinking, change your life”.  Just as Maria does in the song, if you find yourself down in the dumps, feeling blue, frustrated, stuck  etc., you simply just think of the things that make you smile, things that make you happy. By doing that, you are changing your focus. That is what is so important because what you focus on expands. Keep your mind on the positive, what makes you happy, and where you want to go. You’ll find that you will be more successful and by living with the mindset you  enjoy, you can create a happy life for yourself.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please comment in the comment section below.

Are You Sharing and Celebrating Your Successes With Others?

Are You Sharing and Celebrating Your Successes With Others?

party1091

I am a huge believer in celebrating any and all wins I have, no matter how big or small they may be.  I can tell you that my life has improved and I feel much happier since I’ve been celebrating and enjoying them.  I didn’t realize how it would affect my life until I participated in The Ultimate Game of Life. It was in this awesome program that I learned the importance of celebrating and focusing on the successes I have in my life.

This short post is to tell you about the celebration we had last night. I came home last night to find my partner waiting with a bottle of champagne to celebrate the successes he had had that day.  (We don’t always celebrate with the bubbly – usually some high fives, or some woohoo’s etc., but yesterday was an exception.)

Mike wanted to go next door to our neighbor’s house and share his excitement with her and her mother and sister who were visiting her from Washington. We walked in and he asked them if they wanted to celebrate with us.  Janice asked, “Oh, you want to celebrate my new car with me?”. That was definitely news to us, and all I needed to hear! It was game on! Next thing we knew, we were all celebrating each other’s accomplishments, telling our stories and how we came to achieve our accomplishments.

Until last night, I had never thought about sharing my successes with people outside my family or my team. Now, it makes sense to do just that. Going next door was such fun and it was nice to get support from them and to give them ours. It felt almost like being in an energetic mastermind team; like we were bouncing ideas off each other and giving words of praise and compliments. It was a firestorm of excitement right there in Janice’s living room.

I have learned from that experience that sharing my successes and accomplishments doesn’t have to stay inside my inner circle. By sharing them with people outside of your world, you not only benefit yourself and your growth, but also that of others too.

We created such a nice and rewarding experience that I can’t believe I never thought about it sooner!  You can never know how something that you can share will benefit or influence someone else. I sort of felt a little selfish by not sharing sooner. My neighbor was so grateful that we came by. We went outside to check out her new car, had a fun time, got to know each other a little better and toasted each others’ wins. I won’t think twice in the future when it comes to sharing my wins and accomplishments!

Do you celebrate ALL of your wins?

How do you celebrate your many successes?

I would love to hear from you. Please share in the comment section below.

I’ve got a few simple tips for you to do just that. Some, if not all of us tend to get a little more busy during this time of year, and some of the following tips are quick and easy to do.

  • Change your cover photo to one with holiday colors or images. – This is an easy step. Look through your library, create your own, or go online to find one that you like. There are many sites out there where you can purchase photos or get them for free.
  • Change your profile picture – This is also a simple change. Look for a picture of you wearing holiday or seasonal colors. If you have a logo or design as a profile picture, you may want to add a colorful border to it.
  • If you have a pictures of yourself, team or employees included in your fan page, then you can post one with have a holiday background or with everyone wearing some holiday clothing such as  red, green or orange sweater.
  • You can change your app thumbnail pictures as well.  Many apps have a wide range of colors and styles that you can choose from to add to your page.

Have a great time getting your page ready for the holiday. I’m just about to start making my changes.

What Do You Love Most About Being an Online Entrepreneur?

What Do You Love Most About Being an Online Entrepreneur?

Do you know what I love most about being an online entrepreneur?

You may be thinking it’s the freedom….or maybe being my own boss…..how about the tax benefits?

Although those are all great options, right now I have to say that the best thing for me is that my business will continue without me…..at least for a while of course.

I recently learned this the hard way.

At the end of September, I lost my hard drive. It was unexpected and I saw no signs there was trouble. There was no virus. The message it gave me was that there was a problem with the hard drive as if it had been dropped or had something fallen onto it. I never dropped it or seen anything happen to it, so it is a mystery to me that is best left for another day.

I knew I needed to get an external hard drive (just in case), and kept meaning to get one but “never got around to it”.  It was one thing I kept finding excuses for not following through with.

I was very pleased and excited when I realized that most of what I needed for my business was online, was working fine and didn’t need much of my attention. Photos and new blog posts could be started and aren’t complicated to create. My email follow ups that I created and scheduled using Aweber continued being sent out to my list.  Scheduled blog posts that I had written prior to losing the computer went out as scheduled.

A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and I felt so relieved that my business continued without me. Having the right systems in place and owning a business that can proceed on auto pilot makes my life a lot easier. Phew…..what a relief!

What is your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur?

Have you had any business experiences like mine that taught you a lesson “the hard way”?  I would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment below.

I De-cluttered and Created Ease with a 24 Hour Tolerance Challenge

I De-cluttered and Created Ease with a 24 Hour Tolerance Challenge

I am always up for a challenge. The time came again that Jim Bunch, founder of The Ultimate Game of Life was offering another Free challenge. This challenge was the 24 Hour Tolerations Challenge.

The Goal

The goal was to eliminate as many challenges as we could in 24 hours.

Wednesday, September 4th, there was the Tolerations Workshop webinar where all participants met to learn what tolerations are, how they affect us, our lives, and how to come up with our own list of tolerations that we wanted to get rid of. In typical Jim fashion, he gamified the challenge, and we were able to give ourselves points for each toleration we eliminated.

The next day, September 5th, there was a follow up webinar, where we all came together again to share our wins and discuss the challenge together as a community.

So, what are Tolerances?

We have many tolerations in our lives that a lot of the time, we aren’t even aware of them. They rob us of our energy and can leave us feeling drained and unmotivated. Tolerations give off negative energy and can create a negative response from us. Since everything is energy and carries energy that can be either negative or positive, by eliminating some of the tolerances in our environment, we eliminate some of that negative energy, ultimately feeling better, happier and motivated.

Tolerations can be something as simple as clutter in your office, an unorganized in box, broken appliances or equipment that need repairing, being dehydrated, unfit, having a lot of debt, being around negative or complaining people, having a messy yard, or hand prints on your walls. The list can go on and on….

 How to eliminate a tolerance?

The first step, is to walk around your home, your yard, and your workspace. Make a list of all the tolerances that you can find, small or large. You may just have a few, but as you look around and think a while, you will come up with more.

Once you have your list, take action, and knock some of them off your list. You will notice a change in your environment, and a change in you. You will feel better, and may even enjoy making the list and scratching them off as you get them done.

Can you think of some tolerances right now that exist in your life, that you would love to eliminate them? I invite you to tell me about it in the comment section below. I would also love to hear your wins and your experience of eliminating tolerances from your life.
