I am participating in another (my 2nd) Ultimate Blog Challenge.

As I was getting ready for this challenge, I was reminded that I almost didn’t participate in the last one. It was a 30 day challenge – blogging every day, with the end goals of increasing traffic, opt-ins and skills for blogging.

I almost didn’t participate in the challenge, because the little voice in my head reminded me that I was working full time, commuting about 2 hours every day, and that I had little spare time to keep up or have time to blog. It said I wouldn’t be able to keep up, so what’s the point?

I did end up participating in the challenge. I didn’t blog every day, but I was able to double what I was doing before, so I was blogging 2 – 3 times a week. The challenge was an overall great experience. I learned many things, increased my traffic and had some positive visitor results.

Don’t listen to the voice!

If I had listened to the little voice that said that I wouldn’t have time, and let it stop me, then I wouldn’t have known what I was capable of, of what I could accomplish. I am glad that I didn’t listen to that little negative voice. We can’t let that voice stop us. especially as entrepreneurs or business owners, it’s all about taking action and taking risks, trying new things and making progress.

So, my message for today is to not listen to that negative voice inside your head if it rears it’s ugly face.Β  Our minds are there to protect us, so sometimes, that voice makes an appearance. It thinks that it is doing the right thing, but can end up hurting us in the long run. When that voice pops up and tries to talk you out of something, stop for a moment and think about it. What are the pros and cons? Why should I do it? Why shouldn’t I?

I don’t like having a lot of “what ifs” in my life. I have learned to take risks and try new things. Most things (if not everything) are a learning experience.

Thank you for stopping by!

Thank you Wendy! that’s funny…they are more like Gremlins aren’t they?!
Thank you for your always awesome and kind words of support!

I almost didn’t do the UBC either for the same reasons! Glad you’ve joined! I enjoyed your post. πŸ™‚

Awesome! Congrats Mary. I am glad I didn’t…and definitely glad you didn’t! Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you in the UBC! πŸ™‚

What a great post Jodene! In fact, if I listened to ANY of the negative messages that float through my head at any given juncture, nothing would ever get done. Nada. Zip. Instead of paying attention to the “chorus of naysayers” who inevitably show up, I’ve learned to change the channel and tune into the Curiosity Channel instead — where it’s all about playful activity and trying stuff out to see what happens. It’s a whole lot more fun over there πŸ™‚

I am so glad you made the same choice and decided to go for it!

I agree with you! I like your Curiosity Channel even better! Always go where the fun is right? You just never know where it will lead to. Thank you Nancy. πŸ™‚

    Hi Jodene,
This is my first time in the 30 day challenge. I’m determined not to be self conscious about my writing and just do it. Thanks for reinforcing this.

Hi Barbara, congratulations on deciding to participate with us. Sometimes, I’m not so sure about my own writing too, but all of us in the UBC are here to support and help each other. If there’s criticism, it’s constructive, like when a fellow UBC member corrected me on a misspelling! The whole experience was beneficial – I’m glad to see you here. πŸ™‚

My problem is trying to figure out which voices to listen to and which ones to ignore. πŸ˜‰

Yes, that is definitely the challenge. Sometimes, I will weigh the pros and cons, but I haven’t had any problems doing it that way or come across any reasons why I shouldn’t. I rather enjoy the not knowing exactly what is going to happen! πŸ™‚

  6. Good on you! I’ve been meaning to join a blog challenge for some time now, I’m fully inspired πŸ™‚
